PEANA is pleased to announce Quiet Splash, a solo exhibition by Caroline Mesquita.
Drawing from the history of the building that houses the gallery—formerly known as Club Condesa (1940), the first women’s swimming club in Mexico City—Mesquita reconstructs a former swimming club through a monumental brass pool. The exhibition unfolds through marquetry wall pieces and sculptures that evoke the memory of the site in fragments and fleeting scenes, framing the pool and public bath as spaces of community, exchange, vulnerability, and equality between bodies.
