PEANA is pleased to announce Nibbling Ribs, a solo exhibition by Isaac Olvera curated by Andrea Valencia.

This exhibition brings together a selection of works derived from one of the artistic investigations most extensive of Olvera: Natasha (2016-2022). This long-term project blurs the boundaries between performance, dramaturgy and text, and is located in a rather unknown, close to poetry and a mystique of the body. The project is inspired by the poem Natasha y Yo by Francisco Jaymes, from which the artist revives Natasha Fuentes Lemus, a cult character in the social fabric of Mexican Literature. The reanimations, through improvised texts and actions, take on meaning only in the ambiguity and in the challenge of social norms and codes. The paintings, photographs and sculpture included in this exhibition are testimonies that document these reanimations, and that as a performative mechanism lead Olvera to recreate a fictional chronicle, and investigate his own body what lies behind the narratives of desire and life.
