SANGREE Is a Mexico City-based collaboration between René Godínez-Pozas (1986, Mexico City) and Carlos Lara (1985, Mexico City). SANGREE’s artistic practice is distinguished by a rich visual language that has allowed them to navigate the multiple layers of art history, popular culture, and mythical narratives with a peculiar wit and sense of humor. Their most recent projects intertwine the past with the present through exercises that casually play with different historical times, altering and blurring the indexes we use to recognize the temporal origins of the pieces.
Their recent projects include OTRXS MUNDXS at Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, MX; ADN: Tierra ignota at Museo De Arte Contemporáneo de Querétaro, Querétaro, MX; An artist residency at Futura, Prague, CZ; Piedra Temporal at Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City, MX; Unclassified Site Museum at Black Cube Nomadic Museum, Denver, US; and Murmullos de la tierra at Museo del Chopo, Mexico City, MX. SANGREE will be part of the upcoming No Humans Involved at Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, US; and an upcoming group presentation in 2021 at Museo MARCO in Monterrey, MX.
