PEANA is thrilled to present “a room of her own” an exhibition with works by Lukas Gschwandtner and Louis Eisner.
Through this exhibition Gschwandtner seeks to recreate, site-specifically, an entire room with what he calls "canvas fossils". Gschwandtner’s presentation is a personal reinterpretation of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky's bed sitting room designed for Frau C. Neubacher in Vienna in the year 1925 where he investigates the body language that objects and furniture suggest in a space and how this is interrupted and repurposed according to placement and use. Also integral to the exhibition, the work of Louis Eisner, which includes a bronze bust and a series of paintings that add symbolism and create a certain sense of familiarity; prompting the visitor's imagination to question the story of the space itself.
